Uncommon Objects

In addition to great weather, BBQ, and delicious TexMex, Austin is also known for its unique boutiques and vintage  shops. One evening last week before dinner, a couple co-workers and I made our way in to a funky antique store called Uncommon Objects just before closing time. Maybe it’s better that we only had 15 minutes to browse because I’m pretty sure I could have easily spent a couple hours in there looking at all of the goodies. I walked away making just one purchase (which I’ll soon share), but had my eye on more than a few items.

Big Bs!

BEAUTIFUL old card catalog. I’m not sure what I’d put in all of those drawers but I could figure something out, right?!  This would be great in a big giant kitchen for storage, or cut it in half and convert it into a kitchen island with a big slab of marble or concrete counter on top.

So industrial! This would be perfect in an office filled with books, globes and pictures, or could be used in a big bathroom to store towels and other bathroom supplies. It would also look great in a kitchen with dishes, canisters, cook books, and table linens.

Stainless steel dresser. LOVE and must find something like this when I have more space someday to furnish.

I think these old display cases are so fun. Put then on a table or shelf with a candle inside, a small vase with flowers, or  even use them to display your favorite pair of heels or piece of jewelry.

Vintage globes. These colors are so great together. I like the idea of hanging a cluster in a nursery or an office.

Old drawers. These would make a great flower box, can be used to hold bathroom items (Q-tips, cotton balls, a pretty bottle of lotion, or stacked soaps), and would also make a great display on a desk with pens, stationary, etc.

Wink!

I definitely need to make it back to Austin when I have more time to explore!
